Is Motion Graphics a Good Career in India Right Now?
For the right person, yes. Look at any brand's Instagram today. The posts move: text slides in, a product spins, a price pops on screen. Somebody animated that. Five years ago a still poster was enough. Now clients ask for a Reel version of almost everything. That work goes to motion designers.
Motion graphics sits between graphic design and video editing. You design the frame like a graphic designer, then make it move with timing like an editor. Our video editing vs motion graphics guide explains the difference in detail.
Where Do Motion Graphics Designers Work?
- Digital and advertising agencies: social media animations, ad films, launch videos.
- Brands in-house: a growing number of D2C and retail brands keep their own motion designer for Reels and product videos.
- YouTube and education companies: explainers, titles, infographics and channel branding.
- News and media: lower thirds, election graphics, data animations.
- Freelance and remote work: logo animations and Reels for clients in India and abroad.
Our students who grow fastest often move from a motion designer seat to a brand role over the years: brand executive, then brand manager and later brand director. Motion work teaches you how a brand looks, sounds and moves, which is exactly what those roles need.

How Much Do Motion Graphics Designers Earn?
| Stage | Typical monthly salary |
|---|---|
| Fresher (first job) | ₹15,000 to ₹18,000 |
| After 1 year | ₹28,000 to ₹32,000 |
| After 3 years | ₹40,000 to ₹45,000 or more |
| Leads and senior designers | ₹1 lakh or more |
These are the figures we see for our own students in Delhi NCR. The jump after the first year is bigger than in pure video editing, which is why motion designers usually earn 30 to 40% more than editors over time. Full detail by city and role is in our motion graphics designer salary in India guide.
What Do Motion Graphics Job Posts Ask For Today?
On 10 October 2026 Internshala listed 30 fresher motion graphics vacancies in Delhi[1]. Three of them, in our own words (company names left out):
- Junior motion graphics specialist, Delhi. Edit videos and make animations. Skills listed: Photoshop, After Effects, Animate, Canva and video making. No experience required. Pay shown: ₹2 to 2.2 lakh a year.
- Motion graphics intern, Delhi (6 months). Make Reels and promotional videos with motion graphics. Skills listed include AI video generation, AI image generation and AI assistants like Claude and Gemini. Stipend shown: ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 a month, with a job offer of up to ₹3 lakh a year after the internship.
- Creative design intern, Delhi NCR (4 months). Design marketing material and short videos. Skills listed: Photoshop, CorelDRAW, After Effects and other Adobe apps. Stipend shown: ₹8,000 to ₹12,000 a month.
Two things stand out. After Effects appears in almost every post. AI tools now appear in the skill list itself. Employers want designers who use AI, not people who fear it.
Will AI Replace Motion Graphics Designers?
AI changes the job. It does not remove it. AI video tools can make a short clip from a prompt. AI can also make 3D objects you once needed weeks of 3D software to build. What AI does badly is follow a brand guide, keep the same style across 20 Reels, time text to a voice-over and fix the one frame the client hates.
The designers we see doing well use AI for the first draft and After Effects for everything that has to be right. For example: make a 3D product element with an AI tool, animate it in After Effects and finish the video in Premiere Pro. We show that workflow in 3D motion graphics with AI and After Effects. CABA does not teach 3D software like Blender or Cinema 4D. The 3D comes from AI tools and is animated in After Effects.
Who Should Choose Motion Graphics as a Career?
- You notice fonts, colours and the way titles move in films and ads.
- You like music and rhythm. You can sit with one 10-second animation until it feels right.
- You are fine learning new tools every year, because After Effects and AI tools keep changing.
- You want to grow beyond pure editing into brand work or freelancing.
