3D Motion Graphics in 2026: Make 3D Elements With AI, Animate Them in After Effects

Motion graphics are designed elements that move: text, logos, icons, shapes and product shots. 3D motion graphics add depth. The logo turns in space, the camera flies past a product, a phone spins and lands on a table, a price tag pops out of the screen. You see this in almost every brand Reel and festival ad in India now.

There are two ways to make it. A 3D artist builds everything in full 3D software. Or a motion designer brings ready 3D elements into After Effects and animates them there. For small and mid-size brand work, the second way is now very common, because it is faster and the client still gets the 3D look.

   Plan the shot

   Sketch the frames first. What turns, what flies in, where the logo lands, how long each move lasts. A 15 second ad usually has 4 to 6 moves.

   Make the 3D element with AI

   Use an AI tool to turn a prompt or a product photo into a simple 3D object. Export it as a GLB file. Check it closely: AI models often have messy shapes or wrong logos that you must fix or replace.

   Prepare textures and graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator

   Brand colours, labels and logos are made by hand so they are exact. AI rarely gets a client's logo right.

   Import into After Effects

   File > Import > File and choose the GLB, GLTF, OBJ or FBX file. After Effects 24.1 and later place 3D models in the composition next to your 2D layers^[1].

   Animate with lights and cameras

   Add a 3D camera, set keyframes for rotation and position, add lights and shadows, then layer text and graphics around the model.

   Finish in Premiere Pro

   Bring the render into Premiere Pro, cut it with the rest of the ad, add music and sound effects and export for Reels, YouTube and ads.

Be clear about what you want. If you want to model characters and buildings, that is 3D animation, a different career. On 8 October 2026 Internshala showed 72 motion graphics jobs in Delhi^[2]. Three of them, in our own words (company names left out):

• AI video editor, Delhi. Asks for generative AI tools, motion graphics, animation and AI video generation. Experience: 1 year. Pay shown: ₹3 to 3.6 lakh a year.
• Junior motion graphics specialist, Delhi. No experience required. Asks for After Effects, Photoshop, Animate and Canva. Pay shown: ₹2 to 2.2 lakh a year.
• Video editor, Delhi. Experience: 1 year. Asks for Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and AI video generation. Pay shown: ₹2 to 3 lakh a year.

The pattern: AI video skills now sit next to After Effects in job posts. Studios want people who can use AI and still deliver clean, on-brand work.

Learn in this order: design basics in Illustrator and Photoshop, then After Effects animation in 2D, then 3D layers, cameras and lights, then AI-made 3D elements, then the final edit in Premiere Pro.
