How to Write a Marketing Prompt That Works
OpenAI's own guidance is simple: be specific, give context, show examples and say what format you want[1]. For marketing, that means five parts in every prompt:
| Part | Example |
|---|---|
| Customer | Working women in Gurgaon, 28–40, who order lunch online |
| Offer | Home-style tiffin, ₹150 a meal, free trial lunch |
| Channel & format | Instagram Reel script, 20 seconds |
| Tone | Warm, simple Hinglish, no exaggeration |
| Goal | WhatsApp enquiries for the free trial |

What ChatGPT Can't Do for a Marketer
- Know your customer better than you. It only knows what you tell it.
- Check real numbers. It can invent statistics. Verify every figure.
- Rank content by itself. Google says it rewards helpful, original content however it is produced, and using AI mainly to manipulate rankings breaks its spam policies[2].
- Run the campaign. Budgets, bids, targeting, testing and reporting still need a trained marketer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best ChatGPT prompts for digital marketing?
The best prompts name the customer, offer, channel, tone and goal, and give real context like prices and location. Prompts for keyword ideas, ad headlines, Reel scripts, content calendars and email sequences save the most time.
Can ChatGPT do SEO for my website?
It can suggest keywords, outlines, meta tags and FAQs, but it cannot check rankings, fix technical issues or guarantee results. Google rewards helpful content, so always add your own expertise and facts.
Is AI-written content bad for Google ranking?
Not by itself. Google focuses on whether content is helpful and original. Mass-produced AI text with no added value, made mainly to rank, can be treated as spam.
Will ChatGPT replace digital marketers?
It replaces some writing and research time, not the marketer. Strategy, budgets, testing, customer understanding and accountability still need a person — and marketers who use AI well are in high demand.
