What Does an Event Graphic Designer Make?
| Area | Typical designs |
|---|---|
| Event identity | Logo or theme, colours, fonts and key visual for the event |
| Stage and venue | Stage backdrop, entrance arch, photo spot, kiosks, signage and directions |
| Print collateral | Invitations, standees, badges, lanyards, menus, brochures and certificates |
| Screens | Opening slides, speaker cards, LED screen loops and presentations |
| Digital promotion | Social media posts, digital invites, emailers and countdown posts |
| Merchandise | T-shirts, bags, mugs and gift boxes with the event look |
Wedding work uses many of the same skills; our guide on graphic design for wedding invitations covers that side. Corporate events, launches and exhibitions add more signage, screens and branding rules from the client.
Large-Format Print: The Checks That Matter
- Exact size from the vendor. Backdrops and arches are built to the fabricator's measurements. Get the size in writing before you start.
- CMYK and a proof. Screen colours can print duller on flex and fabric. Ask for a small test print of the key colours.
- Bleed and safe area. Ask the printer how much bleed they need and keep text away from folds, frames and edges.
- Vector logos. Sponsor logos should be vector files so they stay sharp at large sizes.
- Read it from a distance. Directions and signage must be readable from several metres away; test by viewing the file small on screen.

Worked Example: A Conference Kit in Five Days
Say an event company in Delhi is running a one-day tech conference at a hotel in Aerocity (a hypothetical example). A designer's week could look like this:
- Day 1: three key visual options from the client's brand guide; one is approved.
- Day 2: stage backdrop and entrance arch at the vendor's sizes, plus standees.
- Day 3: badges with names from the client's sheet, directions and table cards.
- Day 4: speaker slides, an opening screen loop and five social media posts.
- Day 5: final checks, print files to vendors and a shared folder of every file in the right size.
Short promos for the event's Instagram often need simple animation. Our motion graphics for Reels guide shows how designers add that layer.
Which Skills and Software Do Event Companies Ask For?
A Delhi events company post for a graphic designer, last updated on 27 July 2026 and now closed, asked for Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Figma, with After Effects preferred and basic 3D visualisation as a plus[1]. It listed 2 to 5 years of experience. Its work list covered event branding, stage backdrops, entrance arches, signage, badges, invitations, social creatives, emailers and print-ready artwork.
On 31 October 2026, Internshala's Delhi graphic design listing did not show an events company post[2]. Event companies often hire under titles such as visualiser or 2D designer, so search those titles too. Freshers usually start at agencies or print shops and move into events with a portfolio.
| Stage | Graphic designer pay per month (Delhi NCR) |
|---|---|
| Fresher | ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 |
| After 1 year | ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 |
| After 3 years | ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 |

Build an Event Design Portfolio
- A full kit for one made-up conference: key visual, backdrop, standee, badge and three social posts.
- A college fest identity with poster, entry pass and T-shirt.
- A product launch screen loop with simple animation.
Show each kit together, with a mockup of the backdrop and badge, so an event company sees you can keep one look across many items.
AI and Agentic AI in Event Design Work Today
Event designers use Photoshop's Generative Fill to extend images for wide backdrops and AI tools to draft mood boards and copy ideas. Adobe's AI Assistant, in public beta in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign since June 2026, can carry out several editing steps from one request[3].
What the human still decides: the event's look, every sponsor logo, name and date and whether the file matches the vendor's size. A wrong name on 500 badges is a costly mistake. CABA's courses now teach AI and agentic AI workflows inside the curriculum, with a human check before anything is printed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is graphic design for events?
It is creating one visual identity for an event and applying it to stage backdrops, signage, badges, invitations, screens, merchandise and social media posts.
Which software do event graphic designers use?
Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are the core tools. Event companies also ask for Figma for screens and After Effects for simple animation.
What size should an event backdrop file be?
Use the exact size given by the fabricator or printer, in writing, along with their bleed and resolution needs. Sizes differ for every stage.
Do event companies hire fresher graphic designers?
Some do, often as junior visualisers. Many designers start at agencies or print shops, then move into events with a portfolio of event kits.
Is event design work useful for other jobs?
Yes. Keeping one look across print, screens and social media is the same skill agencies and brand teams need.
