How to Design a School Admission Poster That Parents Read
- 1Start with one message
"Admissions open for 2027-28, Nursery to Class 9". Big, clear and at the top.
- 2Show the school, not stock smiles
Use a real photo of the campus, a lab or the playground. Parents notice fake photos.
- 3Give the facts parents need
Classes, board, address, phone and how to apply. Take each fact from the school office, never from an old poster.
- 4Keep it readable from 3 metres
A banner on a gate is read from a moving car or a rickshaw. Short words, strong contrast.
- 5Make print and digital versions
CMYK with bleed for the printer; a square and a vertical version for WhatsApp and Instagram.

What Should Designers Check Before Publishing School Material?
Schools are trusted by parents, so mistakes cost more. Three checks:
- Facts from the school only. Fees, dates, board and affiliation details must come from the school office in writing. You lay them out; the school is responsible for them.
- Website disclosures. CBSE's Affiliation Bye-Laws 2018 require each affiliated school to keep its own website with details such as affiliation status, infrastructure, teachers and fees. CBSE has also asked schools to show the public disclosure link clearly on the homepage[1]. A designer can make this page clear and easy to find, using the school's exact data.
- Children's photos. Use photos of students only when the school confirms it has written consent from parents. When in doubt, use photos of the building, labs or artwork instead.

- Graphic designer at an education company, Delhi, freshers welcome. Skills listed: Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, UI and UX design, Canva and Figma. Pay shown: ₹3.6 to 5 lakh a year.
- Senior social media marketing associate at an education company, Delhi (hybrid), 1 year of experience. Skills listed: social media marketing, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects and digital marketing. Pay shown: ₹2 to 3.5 lakh a year.

Worked Example: An Admission Season Kit
Say a school in Dwarka asks you for its admission kit (a hypothetical example). A two-week plan:
- Days 1 and 2: Meet the principal and office. Collect classes, dates, board details, contact numbers and real campus photos.
- Days 3 to 5: Main poster and gate banner in Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Days 6 to 9: An 8-page prospectus in InDesign. Our InDesign brochure layout guide covers print setup.
- Days 10 and 11: Six social media posts, a WhatsApp image and a website banner.
- Days 12 to 14: Proof check with the school office, printer proof and final files.
Add a 30-second animated admission video later and the same client pays for more work. Small business clients follow the same rhythm; see graphic design for small business owners.
AI and Agentic AI in School Design Work Today
Designers use Canva's AI tools for quick post ideas and Photoshop's Generative Fill to clean up campus photos. Adobe's AI Assistant, in public beta in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign since June 2026, can carry out several editing steps from one request[3].
What the human still decides: every fact, the tone parents will trust and which photos are allowed. Never use AI to invent students, labs or facilities the school does not have. CABA's courses now teach AI and agentic AI workflows inside the curriculum, with a human check on every output.
