What Is a Canva Course?
A Canva course teaches you to make posts, banners, presentations, Reel covers and simple videos in Canva, the online design tool. It is short because Canva itself is simple: drag, drop, change the text, download.
The hard part is not the buttons. It is knowing why one post looks clean and another looks cheap. A good course spends more time on design rules than on clicking. If a course only shows you how to pick a template and change the words, you will learn that in one evening on your own.
What Should a Good Canva Course Teach?
- 1Layout and spacing
Grids, margins, alignment and white space. This is what makes a post look professional.
- 2Fonts and colour
Two fonts at most, readable sizes on a phone and colour that matches the brand.
- 3Brand kit
Setting up a logo, colours and fonts once so every post stays on brand.
- 4Sizes for each platform
Instagram post and story, YouTube thumbnail, WhatsApp status, print flyer. Resizing without breaking the design.
- 5Simple video and animation
Short Reels, animated text and exporting at the right quality.
- 6AI with a human check
Using Canva AI for a first draft, then fixing spelling, spacing and brand details yourself.
Is a Canva Course Enough to Get a Graphic Design Job?
For some roles, yes. Social media assistants, small shops and coaching centres often need only Canva. But look at what design job posts ask for. On 14 October 2026 Internshala listed 62 fresher graphic design jobs in Delhi[1]. Three that named Canva, in our own words (company names left out):
- Graphic design assistant, Delhi and Punjab (hybrid). Social media posts, carousels and Reel covers. Skills listed: Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva. Pay shown: ₹2 to 2.7 lakh a year.
- Graphic designer, Delhi. Skills listed: Photoshop, Illustrator, Creative Suite, UI/UX design and Canva. Pay shown: ₹3.6 to 5 lakh a year.
- Designer (graphic and video), Gurgaon. Social posts plus shooting and editing Reels. Skills listed: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Canva. Pay shown: ₹2.5 to 3.25 lakh a year.
The pattern is clear. Canva is expected, but it sits next to Photoshop and Illustrator, not in place of them. Canva is quick for daily posts. Photoshop is for photo work and product images. Illustrator is for logos and print. That is why our graphic design course in Delhi teaches Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign first and then Affinity by Canva, Canva Pro and AI tools for fast daily content.
| Task | Canva is fine | You need Photoshop or Illustrator |
|---|---|---|
| Daily Instagram post | Yes | Only for complex photo edits |
| Logo for a client | Not ideal | Yes, Illustrator (vector) |
| Product photo clean-up | Basic only | Yes, Photoshop |
| Print brochure or flex | Small jobs | Yes, for print-ready files |
| Quick presentation | Yes | Rarely |
Does a Canva Course Certificate Help?
A little. It shows you finished something. But no employer hires a designer from a certificate alone. They open your portfolio and look at five or six pieces. Spend your energy there: a set of posts for a real local shop, a Reel cover series and one flyer you can show in print.

How Much Can You Earn With Canva and Design Skills?
| Stage | Typical monthly salary (Delhi NCR) |
|---|---|
| Fresher (first design job) | ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 |
| After 1 year | ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 |
| After 3 years | ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 |
These are the figures we see for our graphic design students. Job posts sometimes show more. Designers who know only Canva usually stay near the bottom row longer. Pay grows when you add Photoshop, Illustrator, print and motion.
AI and Agentic AI in Canva Work
In April 2026 Canva introduced Canva AI 2.0 as a research preview. You describe a goal or a brief and it builds a layered, editable design. Its agent can also carry out several steps across a design on its own[2]. Adobe has added a similar AI assistant (public beta) to Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign[3].
Working designers use these for first drafts, resizing and repeat jobs. The human still decides the idea, the message and what fits the brand. They also check spelling, spacing and every price or date. CABA's courses now teach AI and agentic AI workflows inside the curriculum, with the designer signing off every file. More examples are in graphic design with AI.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should a good Canva course teach?
Layout, spacing, fonts, colour, brand kits, sizes for each platform, simple video and how to use Canva AI with a human check. Design rules matter more than the buttons.
How long does it take to learn Canva?
The basics take a few days. Making work that looks professional takes a few weeks of practice with design rules and real projects.
Is a Canva course enough to become a graphic designer?
For social media support roles it can be. Most graphic design jobs in Delhi also ask for Photoshop and Illustrator, so Canva is a good first step but not the whole skill.
Does a Canva course certificate help in getting a job?
A little. Employers hire from your portfolio. A certificate shows you finished a course, but five strong real pieces matter more.
Does CABA Innovatives teach Canva?
Yes. CABA's graphic design course covers Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign first and then Affinity by Canva, Canva Pro and AI tools, in South Delhi and live online.
