Why Should You Visit a Graphic Design Institute Before Joining?
Search for a graphic design institute in Delhi and you will see the same promises on every page: expert faculty, live projects, placement support. Words are cheap. A visit is not. In one hour you can see the lab, meet a trainer, look at real student files and ask hard questions.
Delhi NCR has hundreds of options, from Laxmi Nagar and Rohini to Noida and South Delhi. Government colleges and universities run longer degree programmes with entrance tests. Private institutes run shorter, job-focused diplomas. This guide is for the second kind, where you pay a fee and expect a design job at the end.
What Should You Check on Your Visit? 9 Points
- 1The software list
Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are the base. CorelDRAW is still common in Delhi print shops. Canva and AI tools are useful extras, not a replacement.
- 2Trainer time per student
Ask how many students share one trainer. In a batch of 20 you may get a few minutes a day. In one-to-one training the trainer watches your screen the whole session.
- 3Who the trainer is
Ask what work the trainer has done outside the classroom. A trainer who has handled print jobs and client changes teaches you things no video can.
- 4Real student work
Ask to see five recent portfolios. If every sample is a downloaded template with the name changed, the course teaches templates.
- 5Lab and machines
Are the computers licensed and fast enough? Will you get your own system for the whole class?
- 6Projects for real people
Does the course make you design for a real shop, school or brand? Client changes teach more than ten practice exercises.
- 7Placement proof
Ask for names of recent students and where they work. A serious institute shows offer letters or lets you speak to past students, with their permission.
- 8Guarantee in writing
If a job guarantee is offered, read the written terms: which plan it covers, the time limit and what happens if you do not get a job.
- 9Online and catch-up options
If you miss a class or move city, can you continue live online with the same trainer?
Does the Institute's Software Match What Delhi Employers Ask For?
The quickest test is to open a job site and compare. On 15 October 2026 Internshala showed 59 fresher graphic design jobs in Delhi[1]. Three of them, in our own words (company names left out):
- Graphic designer for an e-commerce studio, Gurgaon, Delhi and Noida. Designs for online stores and other platforms. Skills listed: Photoshop, CorelDRAW, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and video editing. Pay shown: ₹2.3 to 3.6 lakh a year.
- Graphic designer, Delhi. Product mockups and AI product visuals. Skills listed: Photoshop, Illustrator, ChatGPT and Gemini. Pay shown: ₹2.4 to 3 lakh a year.
- Graphic designer at a print company, Delhi. Skills listed: Photoshop, CorelDRAW, Illustrator, InDesign and video editing. Pay shown: ₹2 to 3 lakh a year.
Notice two things. First, Photoshop and Illustrator appear in almost every post. CorelDRAW and InDesign keep coming back for print work. Second, many design posts now add video editing or AI tools. An institute that teaches only Photoshop and Canva leaves you short on day one.
| Skill in job posts | What to ask the institute |
|---|---|
| Photoshop and Illustrator | How many weeks on each and which projects? |
| CorelDRAW and InDesign | Do you teach print files, bleed and printer handover? |
| Video editing basics | Is there a module on Reels or short video? |
| AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Firefly) | How do you teach AI with a human check? |
| Branding and layout | Will I make a full brand kit for a real client? |

Which Questions Should You Ask at the Counter?
- How long is the course and what is taught each month? (A typical plan is in graphic design course duration.)
- Is this one-to-one or a group batch? How many students per trainer?
- Can I sit in one class before paying?
- Can I speak to two students who finished in the last six months?
- What happens if I miss classes because of college or work?
- Is the fee all-inclusive, or are software, exams or certificates extra?
- If there is a job guarantee, can I read the letter before I join?

One-to-One or Group Classes: Which Should You Pick?
Group classes cost less and suit people who already know some design. One-to-one training costs more, but the trainer fixes your habits on the spot and moves at your speed. Most beginners who want a job quickly do better with more trainer time. We explain the difference in detail in one-to-one vs group training. Our own graphic design course with placement offers both formats, so you can choose after the visit.
What Can You Earn After a Graphic Design Course in Delhi?
| Stage | Typical monthly salary (Delhi NCR) |
|---|---|
| Fresher (first design job) | ₹10,000 to ₹12,000 |
| After 1 year | ₹12,000 to ₹15,000 |
| After 3 years | ₹30,000 to ₹35,000 |
These are the figures we see for our graphic design students. Some job posts show more, as above. Pay grows fastest when you add print, branding and then motion graphics on top of your design base.
AI and Agentic AI in Graphic Design Work
Design teams in Delhi now use AI every day. Adobe has added an AI assistant (public beta) to Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign that can carry out multi-step edits from a plain request[2]. Canva's AI can draft a layered design from a brief. Job posts, like the one above, now list ChatGPT and Gemini next to Photoshop.
What the human still does: understand the client, choose the idea, check every word, price and date and make the file print-ready. So ask any institute how it teaches AI. Good training shows you where AI saves time and where you must check its work. CABA's courses now teach AI and agentic AI workflows inside the curriculum, with the designer signing off every file.
